My Man of the Match: Radoslaw Cierzniak

Both teams were looking to make the most of playing each other for probably the last time this season. Both teams met during pre season and Dundee United ran out winners in that game.

It was Hibs who started off strongly. Five minutes in and they had an attempt on goal through Gray. However, this was this was the only real action of the game until the 12th minute.

In the 12th minute, Chris Erskine broke the dead lock. A left footed shot from outside the area, saw United go 1 goal up, in the early stages of the game.

Again no action until the 16th minute when Dominique Malonga equalised for Hibs. Another left footed shot from the centre of the box allowed them to equalise.

2 minutes and 20 seconds later, United are back in the lead this time it was through youngster Aidan Connolly. Another left footed shot from the centre of the box, gave United the lead they would need to hold on to.

20 minutes gone, during the next 10 minutes there is no action in either ends of the park with both teams just gaining free kicks all over the park. Hibs looked like they were going to equalise in the 30th minute through Cummings and Craig. This pressure continued right up until the break, with Allan adding to Cummings and Craig who were having shots on the United goal.

Erskine would have the last kick of the half where it ended 2-1 to the visitors.

Half Time Hibernian 1 - 2 Dundee United

Craig was straight back into the game for Hibs and started to pressure the United defence. Youngster Connolly also had an early chance to extend the visitors. This was the only chance that the visitors had until the 56th minute.

Pressure from Hibs proved to be working as they managed to break down the United defence and push back further and further with every chance they could get.

56th minute, Jason Cummings finally got the goal that he was wanting since the middle of the first half. This allowed the home side to equalise.

Craig tried to extend Hibs lead but nothing came of it. United managed to get back into the game and started to pressure the Hibs defence. Erskine had an attempt blocked.

A corner in the 60th minute allowed Ryan Dow to header the ball into the back of the net giving the visitors the lead on the hour mark.

Cummings was back in the site of the goal but his shot was just too high. Ciftci also tried to get the ball into the back of the net. It was neck and neck right up to the 75th minute. Both teams had shots on goal but nobody was able to place it into the back of the net.

77th minute, Hibs equalised through Matthew Kennedy. A right footed shot from outside the box allowed the home side to get back into the game.

Allan, Armstrong, Craig and Harris had shots for their respective teams but nothing game of the closing stages of the game.

It ended in a 3 all draw for both sides. Extra time was brewing.

Full Time Hibernian 3 - 3 Dundee United

Extra Time:

Dundee United started off the first half of extra time strongly with Townsend having an attempt on goal but wasn't able to make much of the attempt.

It was a very boring 15 minutes, United were looking like the better team but weren't able to get the vital goal that they needed.

Half Time Hibernian 3 - 3 Dundee United

Ciftci started of the second half of extra time, very quickly. This allowed United to have a few minutes of good possession. Craig once again spoils United's party by taking over possession and having a pop at goal.

Thankful for United the Hibs possession didn't last very long and they were back having the upper hand. Dow and Armstrong having shots for United.

In the closing stages of extra time it was neck and neck, and nobody was breaking away. This meant penalties.
